Around 400 to 500 people enjoyed hours of family fun at Maidenhead Bridge Rotary’s annual Easter Family Fun Day on Saturday.
The free-to-enter event at Grenfell Park featured an array of stalls and activities, alongside a bouncy castle and a Traylens carousel funfair ride from 11am to 3pm.
Youngsters were trying their luck at a shooting range hosted by Games By TK, where cork guns could be used to shoot prizes off the shelves.
Meanwhile, visitors also got the chance to try and knock over skittles and hook a duck.
Guests enjoyed attempting coconut shy, and a marble game was also on offer.
There were plenty of stalls to see on the day, including from charities Daisy’s Dream and Stand Out For Autism – who also had free craft packs available for visitors to pick up.
Fun music sessions were put on by Moo Music and Maidenhead Rotaract were selling an array of cakes.
Visitors could pick up much-loved tales for their children from The Curious Minds bookstall, and books were also hidden around the park for youngsters to find as part of The Great Book Hunt.
The Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club were raffling a hamper at the event to fundraise for Maidenhead Foodshare.
Lots of youngsters enjoyed having their faces painted in a range of unique designs at a stall by Every Bounce Counts.
Families also followed a map as they searched for some Easter treasure around the park.
The event was sponsored by The Louis Baylis Charitable Trust and the Shanly Foundation.
This year, the fun day raised funds for Daisy’s Dream, which is a charity supporting children and youngsters affected by bereavement.
The charity offers one-to-one, group, family and professional support, as well as training and support after the death of a grandparent.
Speaking at the event, Adam Hunter, lead organiser of the fun day, said: “We’ve been running [the] event for quite a number of years to encourage people to come and use this fabulous park, see what it’s got to offer, see the cafe.
“We have quite a range of stalls, all aimed at the kids.
“We have hook a duck [which is] always popular. Our main one is the treasure hunt, so we kindly get Easter egg donations.
“The kids look for their clues around the park.”
The event has been taking place annually at the park for around 12 years, he explained after late former Royal Borough councillor Mike Holness suggested hosting a fun day to ‘show people how great this little park is’.
“He was the instigator at the beginning and we’re still doing it now 12 years later in his honour as well,” Adam said
He added: “It’s good. The weather forecast has been questionable all week, so I’ve been quite nervous.
“The sunshine has been predicted to come, and it is here now, so it has been really good, and you can see from the number of people who are here now, which is towards the end of the day, how popular it’s been.”
