An open-studio event showcasing the works of painters, etchers and sculptors returns in September.
The Cookham & Maidenhead Arts Trail 2025, now in its 16th year, invites art lovers on a colourful journey through a rich network of local venues.
The trail is free to all, and around 50 artists will display their work across 16 venues within a five-mile radius.
Their creative handiwork will be available for viewing on September 13 and 14 from 10am to 5pm.
One of the organisers, Jill Chadwick, is a long-standing glass artist and treasurer of CAMAT.
“Artists get to meet customers and value the feedback, which is often very uplifting,” she said.
“Visitors get the opportunity to buy from an artist they have met and understand the meaning behind the artwork.”
The event is a unique opportunity for visitors to view and purchase artworks spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass and jewellery.
Attendees can meet artists in their creative environments, gaining insight into their processes and inspiration, and enjoy demonstrations.
Jill said refreshments will be available at some venues and community camaraderie at all.
“One of our artists had a painting of a Yorkshire waterfall. The visitor recognised it and, once they had both uncovered the many connections they had, the lady said it had made her day,” she added.
“Art can evoke such great memories.”
The upcoming trail will spotlight fresh talent alongside returning artists.
Most artwork is hosted in artists’ homes and studios, but there are several multi-artist venues, including Braywick Nursery and St Luke's Church, as well as smaller venues with two or three artists.
While painters work across all mediums – oils, acrylic, watercolours – other materials include glass, textiles, ceramics and jewellery with a wide variety of themes.
Visitors will receive a warm welcome and are welcome to browse, with no obligation to purchase.
There is even a prize draw for those who visit five or more venues.
Follow CAMAT on Facebook and Instagram for updates, including previews of participating artists and venue locations.
