A restaurant owner has brought the traditional flavours of her native Thailand to Maidenhead town centre.
Katin Nonyai opened her business Thai Thai in the Nicholsons Centre opposite Superdrug towards the end of July.
The 42-year-old, originally from Buriram in Thailand, said it was her ‘dream’ to open her own business serving Thai dishes.
Katin said she was looking for a location to open her business and secured the spot in the town centre after contacting Nicholsons Centre manager Jane Wright.
She said: “I always wanted to open [a] business, I want to do Thai food.
“I am Thai, so I want to let people try my food.”
The restaurant serves up dishes including spring rolls, chicken gyozas, satay chicken, tempura prawn and chicken karaage for starters.
Won Ton soup, chicken noodle soup and beef noodle soup are also on the menu, alongside a selection of rice dishes including coconut rice, sticky rice, jasmine rice and egg fried rice.
A range of curries such as Thai green curry, Thai red curry, massaman curry, panang curry and chicken katsu curry, are also on offer.
Customers can also enjoy stir fry chicken with cashew nuts, sweet chilli chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken stir fry with basil, chicken or beef stir fry with oyster sauce and vegetable stir fry. Pad Thai and Yaki soba noodles are also on offer.
The red and green curries have been particularly popular with customers, Katin revealed.
Developers Areli have submitted plans to redevelop the Nicholsons Centre and are aiming to start the demolition work in February next year.
Katin said she plans to stay at her current location until then and will then look for another venue in Maidenhead to re-open the restaurant.
She has aspirations to expand the business in the future to open another venue.
The restaurant is open from 11am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
