Windsor & Eton have released an updated statement after one of their players was accused of racism during their clash with Burnham in the Combined Counties Premier Division last month.
Burnham reported the alleged incident of racial abuse to the FA and condemned it in the strongest possible terms after their 2-1 win over the Royalists at Stag Meadow on Saturday, August 23.
Last week Windsor & Eton said it was committed to ensuring the incident was properly investigated, adding that ‘racism has no place in football’.
Today (Monday) they’ve released a further statement confirming the FA had commenced its investigating, adding that the club would pass on its findings and video footage from the game.
It read: “The club would like to share an updated statement regarding the allegation arising from our recent fixture with Burnham FC.
“Windsor & Eton Football Club strongly believe that racism has no place in football or in society. We remain committed to promoting equality, respect, and inclusion on and off the pitch.
“In line with our commitment to take a proactive approach to this extremely serious allegation, the club has completed an internal investigation and will now pass our findings to the Football Association which includes all the video footage.
“The FA have commenced their own review of the alleged incident, a process with which the club will engage fully. A further statement will be released upon the conclusion of the FA investigation.”
Burnham’s statement released the day after the game read: “Burnham Football Club would just like to congratulate all its players and management on a terrific and well-earned victory away from home yesterday (August 23) against very good opposition.
“Regrettably, we can confirm that during yesterday’s fixture one of our players was subjected to alleged racist abuse from an opposing player.
“We stand fully behind our player, and indeed all our other players and staff, and will continue to provide him, and them, with our complete support. Racism has no place in football or society, and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms.
“We have reported the matter to the match officials and will be making the relevant reports to the governing and other interested bodies. We will cooperate fully with all investigations and will pursue this allegation through every appropriate channel to ensure that it is dealt with swiftly and decisively.
“We urge everyone involved in football to continue working together to eradicate racism from our game.
“Burnham Football Club remains committed to fostering a culture of equality, respect, and inclusion both on and off the pitch.”
A Berks & Bucks FA spokesperson said last week: “We are aware of an alleged incident of racial abuse towards a player during a League fixture between Windsor & Eton v Burnham on Saturday 23rd August 2025.
“This has been reported via official channels for investigation. Whilst these investigations are ongoing, we will not provide further comment.
“Berks & Bucks FA does not tolerate any form of abuse, and we are committed to doing all we can to eradicate all forms of discrimination from the game.”
