A host of classes and competitions will be returning as a popular village show takes place in Cox Green next month.
The Cox Green Village Show, formerly known as the Cox Green Horticultural and Craft Show, will take place on Saturday, September 6 from 2.30pm at Cox Green Community Centre.
The new name ‘encapsulates perfectly the spirit of the event at the heart of the community, for the community’, organisers said.
The event will feature adult and children’s classes from fruit and vegetables to art, photography, handicrafts, baking and cake-making.
Children’s entries into the show are free.
The limerick competition will return once again, with this year’s theme covering VE/VJ Day – the 80th anniversary.
Those attending will get the opportunity to help judge the new ‘people’s choice’ class.
The subject of the new class is ‘an unframed photograph of an animal’.
A range of stalls and attractions will also feature, including a market stall selling homegrown produce and cakes.
An ‘ever-popular’ wine raffle will also take place.
Children’s dance group Ethereal will take centre stage with a small ballet set.
Visitors can pick up some local honey from Sherwood Huntley, and Mary Wheeler will be selling her handmade crafts. Asma Omar will also be attending with Zoyu handmade.
There will be plenty of teas and cakes to enjoy from the Townswomen’s Guild.
Maidenhead MP Josh Reynolds will present the prizes.
